Saquon Barkley will be the first running back taken in the NFL Draft in April. That was almost a foregone conclusion before he showed up at the league’s scouting combine this weekend and put on a sparkling show, with measurements and drill results that blew away the field:

Barkley has better game film than everyone else, with a library of career highlights to rival anyone’s from this era. He’s as close to a perfect running back prospect as you could want.
It’s probably — probably — the case that Mr. Anonymous Coach was just joking, and that he wouldn’t actually deliver blunt force to his own genitals time and time again with the goal of drafting any player. But if there were a player who a coach could deem worth it, Barkley’s it.
